The state practiced handling a massive evacuation of at-risk medical patients on Tuesday. The idea was to test a plan to bus people to a triage center in Baton Rouge. During the chaos of Hurricane Katrina, some people who needed medical attention were brought from New Orleans shelters to the PMAC at LSU. But state workers say the evacuation could have been smoother if a plan had been in place before the storm.
